A great article that shows how desperate things are for the people that work in the auto industry. It is easy to talk about “the economy” and forget about the lives that are impacted during tough times. For example, did you know that 100,000 have been laid off since 2006 by the automakers alone?
This article about how Iraqis dream about Michigan is fascinating. Although the author was underwhelmed:
I will tell them that Michigan is quite suburban, at least the parts I saw (and I realize that I saw just a small part of the state), and I still prefer New York.
I would have to say that regardless of geography or population density, the mindset of Michiganders does tend to be very suburban. Moving on up means moving out of the city–but I digress.
